In addition to our regular products, we offer 10 and 11 night Russian River Cruises on the MS Nikolai Chernyshevsky, plus cruises on MS Lev Tolstoy and Volga Dream, travelling the Volga river between St Petersburg and Moscow. The cruises are guaranteed departures; conducted in English language and on Chernyshevsky we have our own cruise manager onboard! Cruiser Aurora St Petersburg:
Popular local tourist attraction, the Aurora cruiser, was scheduled to be towed away for repairs at the end of August or early September 13, reported Interfax. It is anticipated that repairs will take up to 1 1/2 years, after which the ship will return to its permanent location at the Petrograd embankment near the Peter and Paul Fortress. Officially launched on May 11, 1900, the cruiser Aurora became a symbol of the October Revolution in 1917 when a blank shot was fired on board, signalling the start of the Bolshevik assault on the Winter Palace. The ship has been functioning as a museum since 1956. More news on this as and when it happens.
Cold War Museum Moscow: (Also known as Bunker 42 or Taganka Bunker)
This attraction is now closed indefinitely.
Moscow-St Petersburg rail tickets:
From 1 March 13 there will be changes in the pricing structure for rail tickets from Moscow to St Petersburg (and also on three other routes: Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow to Voronezh & Moscow to Smolensk).
There will be more variation in prices depending on season, day of the week, demand and availability. Prices will be at their lowest when tickets go on sale at 45 days prior to travel and will increase closer to departure as more tickets are sold. The difference in price between first and second class tickets will also be smaller at 45 days prior, increasing closer to time of travel.
There is no change to the current procedure in that the ticket price will still be confirmed at time of booking, from 45 days prior to travel, but there will be more fluctuation in the pricing and it is therefore important to submit booking requests and passport details as early as possible to benefit from the best prices.
Economic Forum St Petersburg: Dates for 2014 to be announced.
Easy Jet now flies to Moscow:
In March 13, Easy Jet started low cost flights to Moscow DME from the UK, twice a day from London Gatwick and several times a week from Manchester. As well as taking advantage of some of the great free night offers in Moscow over weekends, these flights could be used for a two-centre tour, from Moscow to St Petersburg and returning on the fast Sapsan day train or internal flight in time for the evening flight back to Gatwick.
